My creative way of blogging about myself will be for me to tell you some random facts about me because I'm not sure how else to do this. First off one of my worst qualities is being the biggest procrastinator ever! I don't know why I do this to myself but I always do. Don't get me wrong, I always end up getting everything done but I leave so much unneeded pressure on myself and I could maybe do a little better if I gave myself more time. Even though when it comes to midterms and finals, I'll always stay up the whole night before to study weather I'm prepared or not. Another thing about me is I am a huge sports fan. As I've mentioned in many other blogs, I am a die hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. My favorite player is Mike Wallace and I also Troy Polomalu and Hines Ward. I am also obviously obsessed with Ohio State football and basketball. I watch every single game and go to most of the home ones. This takes up a lot of studying time, just like just now when I should be at the library but I watched the game that went into overtime, but we won so it was worth it. I hate finals week but that's a given I think we all do. I'm so not looking forward to this long weekend of just studying. I'm isolating myself from my friends for this whole weekend so I can actually get things done. Then I can go home and somewhat relax until spring quarter starts and will be even harder than this one. Good Luck to everybody on their finals!

Hmm well if I was born in the early nineteen hundreds I would have been a flapper because I love fashion, the newest trends, being girly, and kind of standing out and doing what I want to do. If I was alive during the sixties I don't know if I would have been a hippie or not but I would have went to Woodstuck because it seems like one of the funnest things. I would also love discos because I love dancing and having a good time. I probably wouldn't be a hippie though cause I would be married to John F Kennedy because I love him and I think I would make a great first lady and be very helpful. Or if I alive at the time of the world wars I would have been Rosie the Riviter. If I was alive during slavery I would have helped the slaves because that's sad and nobody should have been treated like that. If I was in Germany I would have helped the Jews because that is also sad and they shouldn't have been treated like that. This is a really random blog but I don't really know what to write about, I know I'll think of something better I should have wrote some other time, when I realize when I would have liked to live but right now I'm just stressed out and my mind is just on chemistry and math and studying for finals because there are going to be very hard and I'm very worried. I should be doing much better than I am in those classes but I'm not so I'm going to study! bye!

My biggest mistake was taking math 151 and not doing the suggested problems and webwork for the class. Since none of this was taken for a grade I didn't feel there was a need to do this stuff, when in fact, in would have been great practice and I would have learned so much. Instead now I'm scared I might not pass the class which is really sad and depressing to me. I am really stressed for the final for this class and need to study a lot. We had a midterm last night and it was terrible. Everyone in the class thought so though so hopefully the average was really low so the curve gives me an average grade. I'm terrified to check what I got. I studied so much for this midterm and I feel it didn't help at all so it was just a big waste of my time and made me really tired. One of the reasons this is so depressing to me is before college I never had anything but an A in math my whole life. Then first quarter I took math 150 and got an A and a B on the two midterms while my friends would fail. My friends even called me the math fairy. I wish I would have took calculus in high school but instead I took algebra twice instead of going straight to geometry when I got to high school, so I only got up to pre calc by senior year. Hopefully I do well on this final and then learn my lesson to do my webwork and suggested problems next quarter in 152. I want this quarter to be over! I'm so stressed about our papers and my chemistry and math finals. Well guess I'll start studying! Bye.

My best friend is Sarah Louise Muncey. We have been friends since third grade and the summer after fourth grade she moved across the street for me and we became best friends. She moved the summer before our freshman year of high school but only like 7 driving minutes away. She moved because her mom got married and they built a new house, I was sad and thought we wouldn't spend as much together but I think I might have been at her new house even more than her old one. Sarah and I were voted best friends in our senior class for our senior awards. We have went on vacation together every summer since eighth grade excluding this pass summer because of ours and our friends graduations parties. We have went to Fripp Island, South Carolina, Orlando, Atlanta, Chicago, and Myrtle Beach. We are going back to Fripp Island this summer too like two weeks after we get out of school. I'm so excited. It's a private island where her step uncle lives and it's beautiful and so much fun. Everything I do with Sarah is so much fun we can make anything a good time. Sarah plays softball at Adrian College in Michigan. I haven't seen her since I went home about a month ago for her brothers wedding. I miss her so much I finally get to come visit her at her college during spring break since I'm not going anywhere. I've only visited her once and that was before we started school and she has only visited me once because she always has softball, but since Ohio State gets out much later than everyone else she is going to come here a lot during spring quarter. I don't know how we go so long without seeing each other when everyone found out we were going to different colleges everyone was shocked and always asked us what we were going to do without one another, but we're still as close as ever and will be all summer. Me and Sarah will be best friends forever!

My favorite place in the whole world is The Ohio State University. I am so proud to say that I go here. This place has so much to offer and I've enjoyed every bit of it. The best 6, or so, months of my life have been the six months that I have attended this university. Since I've been here I've have learned so much both in and out of the classroom, made the best of friends, met tons of new people, and had so much fun. I didn't think I would meet as many or as good as friends as I have since I've been here but I have made just as many friends, if not more, as I had in high school. I have also met four best friends that I know I will have for the rest of my life. I've have taken challenging and stimulating classes and learned so much, even if it was very hard and annoying, in the two quarters that I have been here and am proud to know as much as I do and learn more in the next 3 or so years. I have also had unbelievable experiences, the best ones being the football and basketball games. It has been unbelievable to be a part of the student section and buckeye nation and to watch in person the things people watch on television all over the country. Also to get to interact with the student athletes that people back home, and all over the country, know of and hear about all the time on TV. The pep rallies, the mirror lake jump-in, the concerts, the parties, the bars, everything has been amazing and life changing so far and I wouldn't trade it for anything!

1. For one of the boy's basketball games this year (not tonights) I decided to go a few hours early so I could get good seats like right behind the bench. I was probably like the twenty some person in line and was with just one other friend. When I went to hand them my student ticket to exchange for the real ticket they asked how many were in my group and I said just me and my friends and they said we were the two seats filling the end court side tickets right in front on the student section. So we got to sit court side. When the ball was knocked out of bounds one time it came right to me and I got to throw it in to Jon Diebler. It was so sweet, ever since I try to get there early and pray that it will happen again.
2. Over winter break I went to stay with all of my friends that I met here at school in Akron, which is obviously close to cleveland. I was staying for three nights and we wanted to think of something to do one night so we went to the Cavs game since it was only a half hour from their house and the tickets weren't expensive at all. We were going to a friends party after so we figured we'd leave a little after half time so we could get there on time and figured they would be getting killed by that time anyways. We started having a really good time and getting into the game which was really close so we decided we wanted to stay till it was over. It ended up going into overtime and the Cavs won!
3. One time in a cooking class in high school we were making cookies and we got tons of dough so my group was exciting to get to make a lot of cookies because we were all always really hungry at that time in the day. We made a tons of cookies on one sheet and just put a few that wouldn't fit on another. When the cookies were done I went to take the tray with all of them out of the oven and it burnt the side of my finger so i like tossed it onto the stove and it slid off into the trash can and started a small fire and was smoking everywhere. No cookies for us.

My word for this blog is going to be basketball because today I went to the boy's last home regular game of the season against Wisconsin. It was probably one of the coolest things I've ever been to. As most of you should know Wisconsin gave us our first lost of the season ruining our perfect record so everyone was jacked to play them again especially at home. I got to the basketball game four hours and twenty minutes early today, so I could get good seats. I did get pretty good seats but not the ones you think I would deserve for waiting in the cold for three hours until they started letting people in. Tonights basketball game was senior night, which was sad but the cool thing about that is David Lighty, an all-star senior guard for the buckeyes, went through the whole line like two and a half hours before game time taking pictures with the fans, signing autographs, and thanking everyone for waiting in that long, cold line for so long to support them. I got a picture with him! The arena was so loud and hyped for the big game and there was even fireworks for the pregame show. The buckeyes did amazing. They set two NCAA records shooting 93.3 percent from the 3 point range, and following the first 3 point miss with 14 straight made. After the game we got to run onto the court and watch the team receive the big ten trophy and cut down the net. The buckeye's basketball team finished with a perfect season at home and are rated number one in the nation. Go Bucks!

This topic have been on my mind so much lately and it is the most stressful thing ever. I took my survey class for business but now I'm not sure if I'm going to stay with that. Ever since I was younger I always would switch between becoming a doctor or lawyer. For the most part it was always a doctor and then my senior year I leaned more towards lawyer. Starting at the end of my sophomore year though I became really interested in business and figured no matter what profession I chose I could just get a business degree for undergrad since pre med or pre law are specific majors. I decided law was way out of the question this summer because I HATE writing and I would be doing tons of that for law school and also I like math and science too much to not take any of those classes. So my most logical and perfect plan if it worked out was that I wanted to get a degree in business finance and then try to go to medical school to eventually become a surgeon. I know this seems far fetched but I know it wasn't out of the question because medical schools like well-rounded people and also my peer advisor in the business school was doing basically the same thing, but minoring in chemistry. So, so far I have been taking math and chemistry so that right now my classes count for pre med and for business, but I've realized there is a very slim chance I would graduate on time if I majored in business but then also took all the pre med requirements. So most recently I am trying to decide if I should be a finance major or switch to biology so that I know I have the pre-med requirements. I would really like to have a business degree from here since Fisher is such a good school and you could do a range of things with the BSBA but then I feel I've already ruined my GPA for business by taking chemistry classes for the bio/pre med major and that staying with business would leave not a very good chance for med school. Then again I might like business enough that I wouldn't want to go to medical school. It's two totally different majors and so confusing but I can't make up my mind.

I barely ever remember my dreams. I know that when I'm about to fall asleep I start to think about something and then begin dreaming but I'm not fully asleep and then if I move or change but train of thought, I think, I like wake up. It's really weird I get so mad because I know I was almost asleep and during that second where I like wake up, I have already forgot about what I was thinking, or maybe I should say dreaming, about. When I was younger I feel like I remembered my dreams a lot more frequently and I know I had nightmares I could remember. Now though, if I were to have a bad dream I would wake up knowing it was bad but not know what its about. On the rare occasions where I remember my dreams they're usually about famous people, ones I like. My most recent dream was about Pauly D. I don't know why I'm not like obsessed with him, I do like him a lot but it was really weird. Whenever I do remember what I dreamed about it seems so real that I have to wake up and sit there and think if it really happens. Another dreaming thingI experience is when I go tanning. I go tanning kind of a lot and have been tanning for a few years now and I fall asleep faster and better in a tanning bed than anywhere else. I dream every time I tan but as per usual I always forget the dreams but I know I do dream. Also almost every time I tan i have the falling type dream where I think I'm falling off something and sometimes when I wake up to fast I slam my head on the top of the tanning bed. I don't know why these dreams always happen when I'm tanning.

Title: Who Am I? Celebrity Image
Date: 1 March 2011
Subject: Individual Memo
Decision: Revise and Resubmit
Dear Author,
Thank you for the opportunity to read about this topic. Your argument stating how you should be true to who you are is very agreeable. I do think the topic could be more compelling in the writing style and format. It is however, a timely topic that we all can relate too and is also relevant.
This article is timely because celebrities images are hugely impacted by the media and technology these days causing them to not be themselves. With so much fame a lot of young stars are trying to fit in and live the party life and many are heading down the wrong road. Also with all the paparazzi and the enormous popularity of social networking cites, such as twitter and facebook, celebrities have to watch every word they say and how they say it because thousands of fan are accessible to this information so often times celebrities will act in certain ways to release the image they want the public to see. Even outside social networks celebs are constantly making themselves seem certain ways for the public.
This article is relevant because one will always have a situation where he/she will have to decide how they will portray themselves towards others, and weather that person they portray is putting on an act or is the true them, and there will always be factors that can influence one to lose their authentic self and put on a front. Especially with us all being in college and meeting tons of new people this is very relevant to how real or fake we are towards the new people we meet and how they are towards us.
This is article not very compelling, however. The sentence and paragraph structures are often hard to follow. The word "you" is used a lot, I don't know if that is proper in this kind type of article or not. I also feel that it could have been made a little more interesting and that there could be some more sufficient use of ethos and pathos to make the reader realize and agree you're argument better. I did find the nondisclosure parts interesting though.
There are a few sentence-level mistakes that I found easier ways to state. The following are a few:
1.3 and 1.4- You may say, "Oh, I know who I am," but have you noticed that sometimes it seems that other people know you better than you know yourself?"
1.5- You may also notice yourself doing and saying things you never thought you would.
1.6 and 1.7- We've all heard the phrases "Don't judge a book by it's cover" and "What you see is what you get," but are these phrases true or false?
2.1- I think that, in a way, we all have our own both personal and public personas just like the celebrities.
2.8 and 2.9- Of course, celebrities have always been products, and they've always had to create marketable public images in order to succeed, but learning how to exist publicly is not just for celebrities anymore.
4.3 and 4.4- It doesn't matter if it's true or not our society love to know about it, but can we believe these "need-to-know stories?
Thank you for your opinions and statements over this topic. I think this article will reach its best potential as a revise and resubmit article and it would be very beneficial to do so.
Sincerely,
Allison Johnson

The ocean is probably one of the most interesting things in our world. There is just so much to learn about it and so much we don't even know. It's literally the biggest thing we can observe really, besides space which a lot of us don't observe or will never see. The ocean is so fascinating yet it is very scary to me. Knowing that we just keep finding new creatures and things all the time is so weird and mysterious. I think there is still so much that has been undiscovered. The thing in the ocean that fascinates me the most is whales. I'm truly very interested in them, it's weird, I feel like they are so mysterious. They are just so big its unreal, and how they just come to the surface and can jump through the air. How do they even do that being as big as they are. I watch youtube videos of whales all the time because I really think they are just such crazy things. I would love to see a whale in real life in its natural habitat but it would have to be in view of the shore because I would want to know that I was on land and it couldn't get that close to me. If I were to be in a boat and see a whale I would be the most scared person in the world. They could easily bump the boat and knock it over and then kill me when I fell out or just jump up and land on the boat and kill me. Even though I'm scared of them, I like them and think they are nice creatures except when I hear some attack stories from Sea World and other aquariums. Another thing that amazes me is when there are beached whales, I would love to see that to but wouldn't want to see them die. Along with its size, and creatures, the tsunamis, storms, waves and hurricanes in the ocean fascinate me too.

Hmm, the first boy I ever liked was a long time ago, like second grade I actually think it was a crush on the boy I ended up dating my whole junior and senior year in high school, but I didn't talk to him back then. In elementary and middle school I was so shy and never wanted to talk to boys but then everything changed in high school. Even though I really only had one serious boyfriend and like two other crushes, but I'm definitely not very shy anymore. Oh no! I had a crush in daycare when I was in preschool on this boy named Aaron. We were so young and I didn't want anyone to know I liked him, and one time our daycare teacher mentioned us having a crush on each other and I got really nervous and ran away. We played legos at the lego table together everyday and I one time we were picking up the legos and kissed under the legos table! Then he moved away and I never seen him again. Haha! I forgot all about that I don't know how I was so shy up through middle school but did that in preschool! I always remember having crushes on all the members of the Nsync and the Backstreet boys bands, I had all the posters in my room. I went to a small school so I only remember really actually liking about three specific boys, I just have lots of little crushes.

I have quite a few pet peeves. One of the biggest ones would have to be when my phone dies. It is so annoying, like why do they even need to be charged. Nothing is the same without your phone. I'm not one of those obsessed people that never put their phone down, but knowing people are unable to reach you is so annoying you feel like shut out from everything and simple things that you just want to ask people real quick through a text message you can't do. Also I always check my phone for the time and you can't do that either. Another thing is when I'm in class I cannot be sane without getting on the internet every couple minutes. I'm pretty sure I have ADD, so I just can't stay focused with one thing for a more then a few minutes. I'm a little obsessed with facebook and I am constantly checking it and reading everyones status. I get on twitter a lot during class too.
I have another pet peeve that is a little weird and different from the first one but I just cannot stand when people study for test or exams that I don't study for or am not studying at that time for. For example if me and someone on my floor both had a chemistry midterm next week and they already started studying and I'm doing something else it will bother be so badly. I know it's weird because I know what I need to do and what I'm going to and what they're doing wont affect me but it bothers me.

My most memorable trip would definitely have to be my spring break 2010. This was my senior year in high school and our softball team went to Cocoa Beach, Florida. Our school has never taken trips like that before but every four years we get a full week long spring break so that our band and choir can go precipitate in the competitions in Disney World. Our softball coaches had known us group of girls the longest because of all the camps we all did together and how we all played varsity for multiple years, so they decided it was the perfect time and group to take the trip. My team was the closest team ever we were all best friends so it was perfect. It was perfect my two best friends in the world, Sarah and Casidy, were on the team and we got our own room while everyone else had four people to a room. Also my baby sister was on the team too. We only played 3 of the 6 days that we were down there. We won all but one of our games while there and we played about nine. It was so nice to play in that weather because softball seasons are always cold in Ohio. The rest of the time we spent there we swam, layed out, played volleyball on the beach, went shopping, went out to eat, and practiced. It was the funnest time ever. Everyone's whole family came so every time we went to a restaurant or on the beach it was like a whole town. We also had a few practices on the beach, one was at 6 a.m. and we took a run down the beach while the sun was rising. It was amazing. Every moment of that week was perfect. I'll never forget that trip.

If could go back in time and meet anybody I would for sure one hundred percent pick John F. Kennedy, then I would marry him! JFK would be my perfect husband, he was so good looking. He was a democrat and I am too! I would love a smart, powerful, guy like him as my husband. I mean who wouldn't? Being the first lady would be one of the coolest things ever. I would study up on everything and try to be just as important. I guess I'm out of luck though so I'll have to marry someone who is alive. There are many eligible living candidates I would love to meet and marry. An athlete would be my dream husband but I would meet and marry Drake in a second. Drake is probably the love of my life. I don't know why I like him so much. Most people don't think he is that that hot but I'm just really attracted to him and I'm in absolute love with his voice and all his songs. He is also only 5 years older than me so it would work perfect. If I was to meet or choose my athletics husband it would Mike Wallace, the Pittsburgh Steelers wide reciever, hands down. I am theeee biggest Steelers fan ever and I'm obsessed with football. Mike Wallace is also only 5 years older than me and so super attractive. Plus he is an athlete and fast as hell so what's not to love about him I would also love to meet/marry Justin Beiber, Pauly D, Derek Jeter, Lil Wayne, Lebron James, Troy Polamalu, Hines Ward, Cam Newton, Jared Sullinger and many more. I mean that's a large selection so I hope one of them works out. Oh, and I want to meet Beyonce!

The best present I ever got was probably my seventh grade birthday party. It was a combined party for me and my younger sister Rachel. Her birthday is in December and mine is in January and since were only a year apart, well really only 10.5 months, we just had it together. We had many of the same friends since we were close in age and all of us had all played sports together in our small town. We were at the age where we had only had a few middle school dances so far, and thought they were the coolest thing ever, so my mom rented us out our local American Legion Hall and rented a DJ and we planned a dance party. It was the coolest thing ever the theme was a luau. We decorated the whole place with light up and blow up palm trees and put lays on everyones chairs. It looked so good. My mom took me and Rachel shopping to get outfits for our party. At the time we thought Aeropostale was the greatest place in the world, so we chose to go there and got matching white skirts and polos. I got a lime green polo with a pink undershirt and Rachel got a hot pink polo with a lime green undershirt. They were both our favorite outfits for the longest time. After we passed out invitations to the party Rachel, my best friend Sarah, and I made up a dance to the song "1,2 Step" by Ciara to do for everyone at the party. At the time, my still best friend Sarah lived across the street from me so we all got together everyday after school and practiced the dance. Everyone showed up to our party, we played games, ate great food, and danced the whole night! We also performed our dance for everyone and they all loved it. It's kind of embarrassing thinking of it all now but it was one of the funnest days. I'll never forget that birthday party.

I'm nineteen years old and haven't really had an official job yet. Back home where I live in Genoa, a small town outside of Toledo, my uncle owns this really good restaurant calls Rayz Cafe. We live in a very small town, my graduating class was only about 128 students. In our town we luckily have a McDonald's, Taco Bell, Subway, and then Rayz Cafe, which is the other actual sit down style restaurant. It's like a local bar and of course my uncle let me and my best friend work there. We were too young to be waitresses so we were just table bussers. After awhile though we realized it wasn't busy enough for busser besides on the weekends when we never really wanted to work then softball season started and we couldn't work at all anymore. We didn't have actual schedules and didn't get actual checks. He just payed us in cash every week. This summer though, since I needed some extra money for college I began working again every thursday and friday in the kitchen doing dishes and preparing foods. I didn't like it at all but my grandma works there in the kitchen so she made it okay because I love her and she is so cute but other than that it was boring. I also umpire softball games in the summer so I guess that's also a job. I actually like doing that though cause it's basically $30 for an hour and a half and I like softball, enjoy being outside, and most of the time got to ump games with my sister, who I also love a lot. Hopefully I will get a real job this summer though because I definitely need money to pay for my house next year!

I can't just pick one family memeber to talk about so I'm going to talk about all of them because I miss them so much. I'm from Toledo so it takes about three hours to get home so I only go home maybe one weekend out of the quarter so I don't get to see my family that often. I have twin brothers, John and Jake, who are sophomores in high school and a sister, Rachel, who is a senior in high school. It sucks not being able to see them and it's weird knowing that they're all still together without me. We all sort of fight a lot but I love and miss them. We have fun. I also miss my mom and I know she misses me a lot also. I like being independent and not living there anymore though, I just wish she could still do my laundry and make me good food sometimes. I would also like to just sit at home and relax with her though because I feel like there is absolutely not time to relax here. My grandma also lives in my house with us and she is the best ever. She is so precious and funny. Me and my family just always went out to dinner together all the time and to all of the sporting events for me and my brothers and sister. It's so weird not living with them. Last but definitely not least is my adorable pup brutus. He is the love of my life! He's a black lab and weights about 150 pounds. I always take that precious boy on walks in the summer. Aww, can't wait to see him agian, he's getting old. I hope he still wants to have fun when I get home.

So I have been studying my life away for my chemistry midterm and I haven't went to bed yet so I hope this still counts for my Sunday blog since we're suppose to do it before we go to bed which hasn't happened yet so I hope it still counts, plus I'm pretty sure these aren't checked until nine-ish I think? So yes I've been trying to do all of my blogs because I really need points because of haven't done so well on our drafts or anything. I did schedule a visit at the writing center on thursday but it's at eight thirty in the morning so I am really dreading it, especially because my first class isn't until one thirty that day, but that was the only time available to go and I could use the help and the extra credit points. I wish it was the weekend again because I'm really tired from studying all night and the weekends are always fun. College is way to stressful, I wasn't prepared for all this. I went to a tiny high school and we barely had any classes to choose from. I think one of the reason it's so stressful is all the distractions, I came here only knowing of a handful of people who were also going here and I did a random room mate, and now me and my room mate are best friends and her best friend from high school also goes here and lives in the dorm right next to us and we're all best friends and always together and it's very distracting, but I don't mind as long as I end up getting everything done, even if it means staying up all night, because I love my friends and we have sooo much fun!

Hi! Welp looks like I almost forgot to blog again tonight. I don't really know what to talk about. I am laying in bed with my friends sweating. We're going to go out tonight! I'm excited! Okay so I for sure did blog number 43 last night but it's not showing up. I got an e-mail saying I posted it and the number 43 came up when I went to type in number 44, so I don't know what happened. I love the weather right now though! It is perfect I even woke up at 9:30 when I didn't have class till 1:30 just to go running in this perfect weather. I hope it doesn't snow anymore but I know it will. Well, I'm happy it's thursday because its basically the start to the weekend. Also Jersey Shore it on tonight and after Jersey Shore me and my friends are going downtown tonight. I can finally go this week because we don't have webwork in calculus this week since we had a midterm. It's not even going to be cold when we stand in line either, so I'm real excited. The things I am not happy about though is that our stupid calc midterm was so hard and I didn't do very well on it and I have a stupid chemistry midterm on monday so I have to study a ton this weekend. I hate midterms but not as much as I hate finals. I'm kind off nervous for scheduling too because I have one of the last dates for some reason. Next quarter is still going to be just as hard as this one because I have to take the next level of chemistry as well as the next level of calculus. I want to schedule earlier classes next quarter though because this quarter by the time I have my last class of the day I can't pay attention and just want to be done. Plus when it's warmer out and light outside it will be much easier to wake up for morning classes.

Hello classmates. We got another in men's basketball tonight and I went to the wonderful game that is why I am blogging so late tonight, or shall I say early in the morning. Today's blog topic is "What makes your argument relevant?" There are a few things that make my argument of my common place paper relevant. My argument is that there is a rise in the number of stay at home dads. This is relevant to us because most of us will get married one day or have a partner and we are all either males or females. This relevancy applies to females in such a way that they will no longer take on the traditional housewife role and that society is beginning to allow and accept them as satisfactory people in the current work force. Also that they would be the family providers. The relevancy that this argument applies to males is obvious. They could have a new role in society instead of working all day and being the source of family income, they would be stepping down their duties to their wives, while they stayed home to cook, clean, and watch the children. This is why this topic is relevant to mostly everyone so is therefore a decent argument for my common place article. I apologize to everyone who has read a lot of my blogs and thinks they all pretty much sound the same because I'll admit that they do, but I find the same things to apply to all of our topics.

Hi Class! I hope everyone is having or had a wonderful valentines day today! Now i get to tell you why my argument is compelling, which won't really make your valentine days any better, sorry. One reason it is compelling is because it is an interesting topic. The idea of stay at home dads is interesting because it is all the opposite of what we are used to, and have been used to, forever in our culture and society. I think using lots of evidence, facts, and statistics should make my argument for a rise in stay at home dads a convincing topic. I also plan on writing it well. If I succeed in doing these things it should make ethos a compelling tool that the readers use while reading my common place paper. Also I hope the facts and statistics, along with real life scenarios and people's own personal experiences make people come to use logos while reading my article. However, I don not really think there will be much use of pathos in this article though because I am not sure I believe anything relating to this argument really appeals to peoples emotions. This topic might, on the other hand, appeal to men's emotions in a way that they might feel like they are less confident and feel powerless if the women made the money for the family, and they were just there to take care of the children and clean. This is why my argument for my common place paper is compelling.

What makes my topic of stay at home dads for my common place paper timely, or consistent to today's trends is that now is when this trend is beginning. This idea has always been the opposite, other way around with a tradition of stay at home moms, but since the recent increase in the number of women in the work force and the increase of women earning higher college degrees, and the slight decrease in women discrimination the tradition has changed. This idea was never very common, or even thought off, before recently. Some men are stepping it down and allowing their wives to bring home the family income nowadays while they tend to the children. I fell like I have been saying a lot of the same things in my last five or however many blogs but it's like the answers to all of the topics we have been having to write about. I don't have much else to say in this blog. I mean hopefully all the readers of this my common place paper agree that this paper is timely, and also relevant and compelling. This was the topic that my group thought was the best option for my paper from the list we wrote of things involving our analytical research paper. Well I really need to go to the writing center this week and not miss any more blogs for the rest of the year because I really need an A in this class because I have a lot of tough classes that will be a lot harder to receive A's in.

A hypothetical scenario involving my common place paper, that has the topic of a rise in the number of stay at home dads, is if women would eventually take over as the family provider and the men all became the child care takers. It would be a return of the old, traditional days by the exact opposite. All the fathers in the families would cook, clean the house, and tend to all the needs of the children. They would take the children to school, musical practices, athletic practices, doctors appointments, and birthday parties. The women would go to work all day and bring home the family income, the women would therefore hypothetically hold the power in the family and wear the pants in the relationships. And then men would even begin to take the women's last name in marriage, but probably not I just went to far. This situation would most likely not happen but you never know. First women need to establish gender equality before they could ever take over in this society. This is the only scenario I could come up with at the time. I hope I will be able to write enough in my common place paper to make it worthwhile because I think the topic is pretty relevant, compelling, and timely enough to write a decent paper. I don't really have much else to say about this today though, it sort of sucks trying to find enough to say for certain topics, especially on the weekends when you are not in school mode and could be doing other things at the time.

Well my common place paper idea as of now is still stay-at-home dads. I picked this because in my research for our analytical research project talking about stereotyping of women, I learned a lot about women gaining power and powerful positions in our society and in the articles it said it created a new way of our culture, and described the effects on men due to women and spouse success. With the women's rise in success came two income families and even stay at home dads. I've heard of a few families this way and it is becoming a new trend in television shows but I'm not personally close with a family that has a stay at home dad, but basically all of the families I know have two income families so I think that is the latest trend as of now until there is full gender equality and no more stereotyping and discrimination of women in the work force. Then when less discrimination is place on females and they can gain higher ranks such as CEO's, presidents of companies, doctors, and layer. Because it did say in my research that all of these fields were going to need the female mind sooner than later. When this happens I feel that by this time men will feel a little bit more comfortable staying home and women will make stable salaries so that their husbands won't have to work. For now though, I've only read about and watched shows and movies that show men as stay at home dads.

So I'm really happy that today we can blog about whatever we want. I'm also really happy that it is Thursday. That means tomorrow is the weekend and that jersey shore it on tonight. I love Jersey Shore, it's the only show I watch because I don't like t.v. that much. Pauly D is my favorite because he always makes me laugh and he is just a good guy. He protects the other girls in the house and is never really mean to anybody. He is also adorable, I love his smile. I like everybody on the show though besides Sam and Ronnie, they're really annoying when they fight about every single thing. I'm really excited about the weekend because I went home last weekend for a wedding so I missed out of doing things her, but I did have a ton of fun at home and at the wedding I just missed the things I usually do here. I'm really really sad that the steelers lost in the super bowl though. I am a die hard steelers fan and thought they would win for sure but I have much respect for Green Bay. They're a classy team and it was a good game. I'm also sad that I have webwork due tomorrow night for calculus. It is hard and takes so much time to do, I went to the workshop this morning and they showed how to do a few of the harder problems but I still have the rest to do and I don't know how. Hopefully I figure it out by tomorrow. Oh, and I really want to go to the Michigan State basketball game after my calculus midterm tuesday!

My idea for my commonplace paper topic is the idea of stay-at-home dads. In society there is becoming a new trend rather than the traditional stay-at-home moms. The cause for this trend comes from the significant increase of women in the workforce. More women are graduating with higher degrees in higher education. Females are currently earning 59 percent of masters degrees according to the National Center for Education Statistics. This results in them earning higher positions and therefore better wages. This is creating two-income families and a lot of stay-at-home dads. The dads tend to the needs of the children and the housework since the women are the ones that are able to provide a stable income. This describes a whole new look on society from what gender roles have always been. It also makes one realize the subtle rise to gender equality. The women will now provide for the husband or they will be both be able to provide for themselves and their family. I will need to find some more things to talk about in my paper. I was thinking about talking about the effects that woman's success had on men but i feel like I would get too off topic. Well that's all i have for now hopefully I think of more cause I think it would be kind of cool to have one of my essays on commonplace for 6,000 other students to access, but all the topics that were presented in class were interesting, timely, compelling, and relevant so it will be tough.

The article I read today from common place was called "Classes, Finals, Friends, and Cancer: The Life of Future College Students" by Shelby Veppert. It was in the society section under relevant articles. This article is about how cancer is a very serious thing affecting so many people in the world and not just the older people, but many college aged students. Cancer is actually the fourth leading cause of death for college aged students The first three causes of death for college students are unintentional injuries, homicide, and suicide. Five thousand and seven hundred of the 57,000 cancer cases in Ohio are college aged students. This article is shocking and makes you really realize that this can happen to one of us or a loved family member or friends and everyone takes it for granted thinking "It could never happen to me." Two big things I noticed a lot of people do here on our campus that causes cancer is cigarette smoking and tanning in tanning bed. I can't say that I am innocent but we need to realize the bigger picture of how bad we are harming ourselves. No matter how much I read it and hear about it I still continue to tan as much as possible sometimes going up to six days a week if my schedule allows it. I just don't like being pale but in the grand scheme of things I would much rather be a little white than to have the life-threatning disease of skin cancer. Skin cancer is one of the most pronounced cancers for young people. I hope myself and others will realize this before it's too late.

Well I just finished up draft one about an hour ago and I think it was a pretty good draft for the most part. It included all my main focus points, all my sources cited correctly, and the thesis of my paper. I know it needs a lot more work which I'm glad that this was just a draft because I have a lot more to do and could make this paper really good with a few more key points and a couple more good sources. When I go to write my final draft I feel like this will be the backbone of the paper and it will take a lot less time knowing I have this. I forgot to do a conclusion paragraph because I was distracted greatly by the super bowl. I need to add a little more information into all my paragraphs, create good, flowing topic and summary sentences, and add a conclusion paragraph, or a good ending paragraph that flows well with the rest of the paper and ties it all together. I am going to go to the writing center to help me out with these few last things. I still want and need to find a relevant, scholarly, article on Hilary Clinton and her democratic candidate presidential run. This well help me further my argument on my specific real world connection. I think my paper has a strong topic and argument and when it all comes together it will make a really good point.

This paper is really annoying me right now. I do not know how to put it all together and did not get a chance to go to the writing center this week because I had midterms to study for and then I couldn't figure out how to make an appointment in time cause I left early this morning to come home for a wedding. I also think it would be very helpful and beneficial if I had another scholarly article to work with. I need a scholarly article about Hilary Clinton and the struggles she faced during campaigning because of her gender. I could also use one about Sarah Palin or senatorial women or other women in politics but I would find one on Hilary Clinton most beneficial because she was running for the most prestigious position among the others, she is most well-known, and I like her because I am a democrat. Since I am at home though, as far as I know, I am unable to access a scholarly journal database. I think I have a good topic with a strong argument so hopefully I'll be able to pull this paper together pretty well, well I quite confident I will be able to once I visit the writing center a few times and find my couple extra sources. For now however, I'm going to try to pull this draft together at least in a way that I can understand it well so it will be beneficial to me when I am writing the final draft. So I'm off to work on my draft on a friday night at nine o'clock. I hope I am successful!

My paper is about the gender stereotyping in our society. My primary source is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I will start off by describing her in terms of appearance and her normal life. I will then precede to tell who Buffy actually is and her powers, skills, beliefs, and how people think of her. My next main point will be the problems women face because of gender stereotyping and the low expectations people have for them. I will use scholarly articles and the studies and experiments presented in them to prove the discrimination and problems they face in the workplace, in politics, and in everyday life. I will then explain specific examples of this happening such as Hilary Clinton running for president of the United States and the obstacles she had to face because of her sex that male candidates don't even have to consider. I will also reference the "Equality Now" speech in which the writer of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Whedon, describes his inspiration for Buffy and how his point was to make the power in a females hand because the fact that people think that unordinary is a reason to do it. It proves we don't think of women equal to men yet if we find it weird for a women to have so much power. The paper will relate women power and stereotypically views from both the Buffy the Vampire episodes and the real world. Gender equality needs to be established in this world. Girl Power!

In practically every country in the world, men reign superior in politics and women reign as the minorities. There is much bias against women in elections. Across the globe women hold only 16 percent of the parliamentary seats. Research shows that voters believe women do not carry the characteristics need to perform leadership roles and the jobs in politics. "Gender is one of the most salient social categories and often the first categories on the basis of which people are judged" (Lammers 1). When voting, a voter would never question casting their vote for a particular candidate because that candidate was a male but women, on the other hand, will get questioned majority of the time because of the particular reason that they are a female. Voters make much use of stereotyping because it serves as the easiest way to come up with a quick image of the political candidates. The fact that men have a competitive, straight forward attitude people are quick to think they would be best for the job rather than a stereotypical female who is communal and pro-social. Some voters cast their ballot based on which candidate they think would handle the problem they themselves think to be the biggest issue at the time. For example, if a voter thought terrorism was the biggest issue they would pick a male candidate over a female candidate to handle such a problem because men are stereotypically assertive and could deal with the dirty problems like this while a female would be more prone to deal with a health care issue. In my opinion more than likely voters will find a lot of issues more important than a health care problem which in a women's reach, therefore be more prone to vote for a male candidate.

Looking at several case studies, one may observe all the reasons keeping gender equality out of our society. One specific study explains the results of surveys taken rating the quality of company leader and superiors. The study showed that "individuals were found to make different judgments about identical leadership behaviors depending on whether those behaviors were attributed to men or women. Women exhibiting the same behaviors as men were judged less favorable than men" (Carter, 29). As well as the descriptive stereotyping of the qualities women are capable of, the studies show that our culture also carries a prescriptive stereotype for women, stating the beliefs about the parts women and men should play in society. In the case study the participants were asked to make promotion recommendations. Results showed that little evidence was needed for the men's leadership abilities as compared to women. Also there was evidence that when women went beyond their prescriptive female stereotypes, by mastering leadership roles, they endured unfair punishments. Also as females would perform leadership jobs with competitive attitudes, such as men in similar positions do, they were accused of hostile behavior. Identical tasks of the different sex's were even rewarded differently, favoring the male of course. All in all, the conclusion of the study provided that the participants recommendations favored compensating the male leaders as in relation to female promoting. As expected by other studies concerning gender biasing, studies propose that females are in certain risk of discrimination and stereotyping in the workplace.

Despite the enormous amounts of gender stereotyping that how society faces, women are on the move to do big things. The massive increase of women in the labor force, during the recent half of this century is occurring because of the help of this progressively materialistic, competitive, and technologically abled society. The direction toward gender equality relates to the past gender roles of million of years ago when both the males and females shared the act of gathering and proving for their families. Similar to then in our ancestor's days, today women provide family-income just as they contributed back then. The idea of the two-income family is barely rare these days. The talents of women to create networks, and come to consensus, will lead to new ideas in the art of negotiation. The women's brain will be required in the progression of business, education, medicine, law, and the media. "The natural talents of women as communicators, integrators of information, negotiators, educators, and healers are recognized and exploited in the global marketplace, they will reshape many professions and corporations" (McDonald, 1). With the increase in women power and the acceptance of women in society, the confidence of the female will rise, correlating with the decrease in male confidence and power. This effect, concerning confidence and power, is due to a female's aptitude to control conception, the major increase in single motherhood, the rise of women's wages in relation with men's, the habit of the U.S. government to decline welfare to male-headed families, and a rise in social recognition of male bashing in our culture.

Why have we yet to have a woman president in this country? This is somewhat a rhetorical question because our society could tell you the answer is because she's a women. In our society gender stereotyping is one of the most biased things out there. People in our world dismiss the pervasive vacancy of females in leadership positions and roles because of the diversity in the traits of men and women. Yet, studies have shown that this biased perspective is so easy to have but yet very hard to prove with evidence. Studies prove that females and males share many more traits and qualities than ones that they don't. Both men and women are found to share the stand out qualities of cognitive thinking and personality traits. So surprising was this fact that the authors "concluded that a person's sex was not a realiable indicator of how that person would lead (Carter, 26). Women in the bussiness world well-qualified for postions in leadership declare that the gender stereotyping in society about females being able to lead continue and end in bias and discimination. The common beliefs of society say that female leaders are ultimately less task-oriented than male leaders. The stereotype of men depict that they geniunely carry qualities of a leader just because of thier gender and that women sterotyping depicts ill-suited leadership skills. We will never question why a man has authority in certain postions but it's our nature to examine a woman in power. Many women are rising up in big postions but get stopped before reaching their full capablitly because society is so quick to judge a woman's abilitys before they even know them just because of the fact she is a female.

The scholarly article I read today was called "Independent School Leadership -A Gendered Experience," by Susan Feibelman and Martha Haakmat. Ultimately this article discusses why more women aren't at the top positions and in leadership roles in independent schools. The reason the article gives for women not rising up to the ranks of leadership in the independent school communities is of course gender based. They say it's the same reason why our country hasn't of yet elected a female as the president of the United States, gender biases and issues of the broader culture. In fact our country is currently tied for 69th place among counties with the greatest percentages of females in national legislatures. Like I've discovered in most of the articles I've been reading for this paper, cultural beliefs are not beneficial to women in leadership roles. This article explains why in four main points. First, female leaders are expected to combine compassion with their leadership and when they don't they are disliked. Secondly, people less adequately and take commands from women than men. Next, when women advertise themselves and their capacity they acquire disapproval. And finally, as opposed to men, to be good leaders, women need more apparent acceptance and awards to feel secure in her position. It is told that the hardships actually facing women to maintain leadership roles, has nothing to do with their actual skill it's just the societal stereotype. The article goes on to say that the schools need to acknowledge that this gender biased problem is hurting their school and they need to do something about it. This is yet another article that proves my stereotyping topic, women have the traits to do the important things but are not accepted to do them because of their gender.

The article I read today is called "Women 'Take Care,' Men 'Take Charge': Managers' Sterotypic Perceptions of Women and Men Leaders" by Jeanine L Prime and Nancy M Carter. This article is ultimately all about gender stereotyping. The article says that because of the beliefs of the great gender difference is so noticeable, society frequently likes to blame the gender inequalities for the reason why we hear of the differences in the skills and traits of women and men. The article discusses conducted studies showing that all the records of gender inequality are oh so easy to assume but not as easy to support with actual evidence. Studies they've shown prove that women are a lot more like men than they are different, in both personality traits and cognitive functioning. This article is proof the harsh women stereotyping in the business and leadership world. Global views implicate the beliefs that women carry less leadership qualities as opposed to typical men and also that female leaders are less task -oriented than leaders in general. Women notice the different biased behavior they are treated with based on their gender, and conclude these reasons are what is stopping their career advancements. The main point of this article is how gender stereotyping describe men to be genuinely fit with the qualities for leadership and describe women being unfit for a leadership position. It goes on to describe their studies, research, gender behaviors and beliefs. I think this article is an excellent source for my paper dealing with gender stereotyping.

The article I read today is called "Citing the Rising Influence and Power of Women" by Kim A. McDonald . This article is about two colleagues's at Rutgers University comparing their predictions of future gender roles and what will happen to the world when women continuing to gain power. One anthropologist from Rutgers believes that the turn approaching gender equality is a recurrence to the past ancestral relationships between the sexes millions of years ago. More and more women are entering the workforce and creating two-income families and there is always a growing number of females in higher education. Society is just becoming generally feminized. The accustomed traits of females such as, negotiators, communicators, educators, integrators of information, and healers are recognized and exercised in the global marketplace. These talents will "reshape" corporations and professions, according to Helen E. Fisher. The female capabilities of contextually analyzing, developing interpersonal skills, and their efficiency for language will prosper the the assembling and altering of information and their traits of compassion and need to nurture will make the the female presence in medical schools rise resulting in the change of the face of medicine. In this society it is being discovered that a lot of areas of specialization are going to require a women's mind. The article goes on to tell what this transfer of gender power will do to men and families as a whole. This article relates a lot to my topic of women becoming equals. I think this will be a very helpful source.

One of potential sources for my research paper is an article called "Iron ladies, men of steel: The effects of gender stereotyping on the perception of male and female candidates are moderated by prototypically,"written by Joris Lammers, Ernestine H. Gordijn, and Sabine Otten. This article is about women being underrepresented in parliamentary positions and the stereotype that they often face. The article explains how equal representation in parliament is crucial for three important reasons. One, the United Nations Development Program accents that female political power is necessary for good governance. Two, without participation of half of the population, the theory of democracy will not work. And lastly, the participation of females in representative bodies can deliver independence because women politicians can act as role models. Despite these reasons, worldwide only 16% of parliamentary seats are held by women. Even if, stereotyping of sexism has become "less hostile, more subtle, and more benevolent in tone" it still has a contrary effect on how females are perceived and how people act towards them. Gender is generally one of the first departments of which people are judged and it is also one of the most intrusive departments. The article explains that voters tend to favor a politician based on their view on the problem they think is the most important. Because men are viewed as competitive and assertive, people often vote for them when they think terrorism or something to that degree is most important and women would only be favored if someone thought maybe health-care was the most important problem, because females are seen as "communal and pro-social." Voters are very reliant of stereotyping because it makes it easy to achieve a fast image of the political candidates and use that image to assess the weaknesses of that certain candidate.

The article i read today is called "Hear Them Growl" by Lisa Miller, Arian Campo Flores, Eleanor Clift, Eve Conant, Andrew Romano, Daniel Stone, and Pat Wingert. This article is about Sarah Palin and her famous term "momma grizzly." According to Sarah Palin a mama grizzly is a mother who takes charge when she needs to protect her children from bad policies in Washington. Palin describes a mama grizzly as a different new kind of political predator. With a mama grizzly's fearlessness along with the mixture of her femaleness makes the mother quite scary. She says the mama grizzly's will take on any enemy and the result will be that they will be ripped to shreds. The first time this term was used was in Sarah Palin's 2008 vice presidential run. She continued using this term like in a speech she gave for a women's pro-life group. Soon Sarah Palin's political action committee recognized the power of this phrase and created an Internet ad appropriately named "Mama Grizzlies"Since Palin was obviously running as a republican vice-president and said that the mama grizzlies protect their kids from the bad things in Washington the name is particularly aimed at the conservative mothers. The article ask that with all this commotion about this term it is fair to know what these mothers have actually done for their kids, or the kids of this country. It is shown that all these female conservative politician mothers, Sharron Angle for example, voted against a domestic violence issue that would recognize restraining orders that were issued in other states. Virtually all the grizzly's voted against policies that liberals would consider good fro children such as health care. This article could help a little in my research showing big impacts females have made in the political world but I think I could find more helpful topics.

I would like to conduct reseach proving that women are becoming just as important as men are nowadays. I know that is not fully 100% true, but I would like to prove that women are taking on more powerful positions and jobs in this world. I want to show that people have a lot more respect and confidence in females these days then they have in the past. Also I want to recognize how there is now a smaller gap between the powers of men and women. I would like to also provide reseach about stereotyping based on gender hopefully find that it's not that big of a subject anymore. I will probably provide information including quotas and affirmative action because I feel that conducting this reseasch a lot of topics like that will appear. One of the articles I've found in my seach is called "Sex and the GOP." This article focuses on the women of the repulican party in the United States of America. This article is about all the ladies of the country who are making the republican party oh so interesting, how the GOP was boring and "defined by a white male old guard along with a luckluster lineup of young guns cut form teh same drab cloth." Women are now taking senatorial seats in various states and heading and organizing huge organizations, spicing up politics in a whole new way. I think this article will be somewhat helpful to my research because it is proving my argument of women taking prestigious positions and making differences in the world instead of just be house wifes as they were to be before. I think this topic may be a little hard to reseach considering there is still some women discrimination going on in the world and mnay topics about laws stoping stereotying and such will be brought up in a lot of the articles.

As of now I'm pretty sure my paper is going to be about women in powerful positions and changing points of view and stereotyping. I'm going to base my information and support my argument with a lot of scenes from the first episode of the fourth season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The episode is called "The Freshman" because it's setting is Buffy and her friends first few days at college. In this episode it is shown that Buffy Summers is very powerful and people have a lot of respect for her and a ton of confidence in her. Buffy, played by Sarah Michelle Gellar, is a young, beautiful, petite, college girl, yet she defends the world against all evil forces such as demons and vampires. One of the other head characters of the episode is Sunday and she is also a petite, young, blond girl that holds just as much power and respect as Buffy. This episode is showing a lot about stereotyping and how we judge people based on looks. Also the obvious change in power from male roles to females roles, which that along with the stereotyping topic will be the thesis of my paper. Just as in this episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, our world's views and powers of women are changing. I feel I can make strong arguments to prove that, such as women rising to places of authority so high as to run for president of the United States. Unlike past stereotyping and views, people are starting to realize that just because somebody is a female doesn't mean she can't make big decisions, or be strong, or brave, she is just as good as the next male. I think I will have many good claims to back my thesis based on the Buffy episode and today's world politics, economics, and sports ect.

There are quite a few grammar rules that mess me up quite frequently. One of them being subject verb agreement. With subject verb agreement the basic rule is that singular subjects take on singular verbs and plural subjects take on plural verbs obviously but there are tricks. First you need to recognize what kind of subject is it to match it with that type of verb. Verbs don't add s to make plurals as subjects or nouns do most of the time. To chose the correct verb you should think of which verb would make sense with he or she and which verb would make sense with they. Then there are the cases where sentences have a multiple number of subjects or nouns. When the subjects are connected with or or nor one must pick the singular verb to use in this sentence. When two singular subjects are connect with either or neither they will also require the singular form of the verb. If one of the two subjects connected by either/or or neither/nor is I it should be put last and followed up by the verb am. When there is both singular and a plural subject connected by or or nor, the plural subject should go last and the plural verb should be used. When two or more subjects are connected by and it is obviously appropriate to use the plural verb. One of the tricky rules is when using words such as everybody, everyone, anybody, anyone, each, someone and somebody the singular verb is always used. In a sentence like "Each of the boys knows the offensive plays." it would be easy to mistake know for knows because the subject before the verb ,boys, is obviously plural but when saying each the singular form is always to be used. Lastly when using portions as subjects such as, percents, some, none, or a fraction always look at the noun in the prepositional phrase to see if it's singular or plural and match your verb with that noun.

The episode I chose to rewatch was the first episode of the fourth season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, "The Freshman." This is the episode where Buffy first goes off to college. Willow and everyone else is enjoying it and exciting about everything while Buffy is just overwhelmed and not sure what she thinks of it yet. Buffy meets a friend, Eddy, one night and the next day she comes to find that he is missing. She finds it odd that he is gone and she finds out that he left a note on his bed saying he couldn't handle it anymore. The next night she thinks she spots him on campus and runs up to him to find he has turned into a vampire. She kills him when he tries to attack her and then the head vampire, Sunday, that captured Eddy and killed turned him into a vampire is there to find that Buffy is a slayer and tries to kill her. I think this episode shows a lot about women in power and stereotyping. Two of the most powerful women in the episode, Buffy and Sunday, are young, blond, small, petite girls who many people look up too. These two girls have a lot of power in the show. Buffy is the chosen one, a slayer, you realize when you watch the show that everyone has a lot of confidence in her. When Buffy goes to Giles to notify him on the missing student he tells her she "is old enough and experienced enough to handle it herself" and when she tells Xander of the whole situation he tells her that when ever he is alone or freaked out he always things "what would Buffy do," and that she is his hero. Sunday has a lot of power to all of the other vampires in her crew would never think to disobey her and she is in charge of when they eat who they eat and what they do. This is what is happening in the real world too, women are rising to places of authority and power, stereotyping is different than in the past.

Today I watched another episode from season four of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I think this was one of the most intense episodes of Buffy that I have watched so far. This episode focused a lot of Oz. In this episode it is the time of the year or month that Oz becomes a ware wolf. Everyone is obviously already aware of this trait and he has a cage he stays in at night during these few ware wolf days in order to protect him and other people and ware wolves he could hurt. The problem this time is Willow notices that Oz is attracted to some girl he is talking to at lunch and that they have a lot in common and she gets a little worried but Buffy helps her realize it's nothing if a guy is a little bit attracted to another girl because he loves her. It turns out that this girl from lunch is also a ware wolf and they have a shared, intense, attraction for each other caused by their animal traits. They end up getting together and Willow notices that something is wrong but Oz assures her that is it nothing. The next day Buffy hears from her professor that she was attacked by two wild dogs. Right away Buffy knows that it was Oz as a ware wolf but doesn't know who the other one was. She goes to Oz to tell him to keep his friend locked up or something bad will happen. He gets her in the cage and their attraction for each other takes over. When daylight hits Willow goes to get Oz and finds him naked with the girl, her heart is broken. She runs off and tries to do some voodoo when the ware wolf girl comes to kill her. Oz comes to kill her and rescue Willow but the sun goes down and he turns into a ware wolf and tries to attack Willow also but then Buffy comes to save the day once again. Later on Oz realizes he was wrong and tells Willow he loves her but leaves and says he doesnt know when he will be back.

Today I watched the episode called "Beer Bad" of season four of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In this episode Buffy is still going through the typical teenage boy relationship thing and is still very hurt after the whole sleeping with Parker and not talking to him anymore thing. While she is in one of Professor Walsh's psychology classes she keeps playing out scenarios and daydreaming about saving Parker's life and then him wanting her back more than anything, all the while Parker is a few rows ahead in that class with another girl. In the mean time, Xander gets a fake ID and gets a job as a bartender at a local college bar. One night Buffy goes to the bar with four college guys and Xander serves her up some Black Frost beer. Buffy ends up getting really drunk and in the morning Willow tries helping her deal with her hangover. That night Buffy gets more drunk and then we see a clip of why. Someone has a chemical lab set up and it putting something bad in the beer. Buffy finally goes home but then when her friends come to check on her they find her writing Parker Bad on her dorm room walls. Her friends try to keep her in her room but she keeps craving more beer. Willow blames Parker for Buffy's behavior and then go to the dorm to help her. In the mean time the guys Buffy went to the bar with turned into neanderthals and bust into her dorm and knock her friends unconscious and light her room on fire. Although Buffy is unable to use the fire extinguisher, she still mangers to save Parker and Willow. They then thank her and Parker apologizes to her just like she imagined it.

The episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer "Fear Itself" is set on Halloween night, and gives an account of what Buffy and her friends take part in. Buffy seems to be reluctant to her friends ideas of Halloween activities in the beginning, and would rather patrol and be on vampire watch. Much to Buffy's dismay, they decide to go to a local fraternity for a haunted house/party to celebrate the holiday. Soon after their arrival, they find the frat house to actually be haunted. The demon that which took over the house feeds on the fear of the college students it is terrorizing. The group of friends is split, and the house proceeds to hone in on each individual students fear. After much chaos, the group manages to meet back up and regroup in one of the main rooms of the house. There they find a book on rituals, and take note of the demonic symbols painted on the floor by the frat at the beginning of the night. With the help of those who were in the house with her and Buffy's mentor, they manage to reveal the demon which incidentally turns out to be minuscule and harmless. The end and overall theme of this episode emphasizes the fact that fear tends to be something that is extremely built up and exaggerated in one's imagination. Perhaps it can be taken from this episode that things are not always as they seem. This is displayed directly through the experiences of Buffy and her friends on Halloween night, in the episode "Fear Itself".

The article "High School is Hell" brought up some really good points. I've been watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer so i understood a lot of the messages they emphasized. It's really interesting to think about how writers can come up with all the things they do. There is so much irony and so many metaphors with every little point the show conveys. The creators of this show appeal to the viewer's thoughts in such discrete, inclusive ways that every body can relate to. It's crazy how much thought could go into all the episodes. The show shows that the fake things that people are afraid of in real life, such as demons and mythical monsters, are the things that are real in the Buffy world. In the Buffy world the characters biggest horrors are not the monsters and vampires though, they are the things that we too have to fear too, well in high school at least, such as making sports teams, fitting in with the right friends, having a date to the dances, and having the perfect prom dresses. Then things like graduation, which for us is a huge step, something we would think of like end of the world really would be for them if it wasn't for the Mayor's ascension. So graduation is thought of as the last coming together of the class along with the mourning of the hardships every one will face trying to keep in touch but in Buffy's world it is a victorious day because they blow up the mayor and their school. The writers of these sci-fi shows, along with other writers of books, shows, and movies, are genius and how they can relate to the viewers in their ironic and metaphoric ways.

I watched the third episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer of season four tonight. This was third consecutive episode I watched of this season and I'm actually starting to like it. Although it's kind of weird sometimes when you feel like you are watching a normal show with a normal plot and then people suddenly turn into vampires and attack each other. In this episode "The Harsh Light of Day," Spike, a powerful well-known vampire you could say, comes to Buffy's campus. She meets him at some college party and they start fighting, all along his so called "girlfriend," Harmony, (one of Buffy and Willow's old acquaintances) accidentally spills a secret in front of Buffy about why Spike is back on campus. Spike is supposedly trying to find and capture a magical ring that makes it impossible for him, or any vampire, to die. He wants to possess this ring so he will be invincible. Buffy tells one of her slayers about it and he recognizes what it is and does some research on it, when he finds out what it can do he tries to warn Buffy about it but of course she is already fighting Spike. It takes her a stab with one of her vampire killing weapons to realize he is wearing the ring and she won't be able to kill him as long as he acquires it. After a long troublesome battle Buffy captures the ring from him and he is sucked away. This is mostly the main concept of this episode as in all the episodes so far from this season, Buffy is just living her college like with boy problems and room mate problems and there is always a vampire scandal going on that her crew researches and they and her use it to defeat the bad guys.

Tonight I watched another episode from Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 4. It was called living conditions. I actually enjoy the Buffy series and think its quite interesting. In this episode Buffy experiences a lot of differences with her room mate. At first it's little things and her friends tell her to just try to get over it and get along with her but then Buffy has some serious feelings that her room mate, Kathy, is evil. Buffy and Kathy start to have the same dreams, which is weird to us, but Buffy and her friends know that encountering with some evil thing or vampire could be the reason for that. From what i know of the series, she thinks she is some sort of vampire or monster that needs killed. All of Buffy's friends think she is overreacting and that one of her fights with a demon she encountered is making her think this way. Buffy's friends begin to realize that it is probably not safe for Buffy to be around Kathy because they know she wants to harm her or kill her and prove she is evil. Willow, Buffy's best friend, goes to tell Kathy that she should probably have some away time from Buffy. While this is all happening, Buffy's other friends are holding her hostage so she cant harm Kathy. Buffy ends up escaping and going back to her dorm to fight Kathy. It turns out that Kathy really was some sort of demon. Her and Buffy fight until Kathy's demon dad comes to get her and takes her back to their land or wherever they go. Buffy's friends feel bad for not believing her and Willow gets to move in with Buffy to be her new room mate.

Today I watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer season 4 episode 1, "The Freshman." I actually liked this show a lot for it being the first time i watched it. In this episode Buffy goes to college and doesn't like it very much. She realizes that one of the friends she meets is missing when he does not show up to the class they have together. She checks his resident hall to find out where he was when she finds out he is gone and supposedly just left cause he couldn't handle the college life. She finds this weird and abnormal so that night or a few nights later she spots him walking through campus and catches up to him to find that he was turned into a vampire. She tries to talk to him when suddenly he attacks her but she ends up killing him. The group of vampires who killed her friend, Eddie, then show up and realize she is a vampire slayer when she defeats Eddie so they decide they want to kill her. The leader of the vampire group tells all the others to stay back because she wants to fight her on her own. Buffy gets hurt but not killed and she eventually meets up with an old friend and tells him about the campus vampires. He tells her they need to get their crew together to go defeat them. They go to plot the attack and her friend leaves to go get weapons and the rest of their crew, while he is gone Buffy finds herself in the middle of a battle with all the vampires. She is outnumbered but puts up a fight until eventually her crew arrives and she defeats and kills the campus vampires and stops their cereal murder. Buffy then returns to normal campus life.

I felt that the episode of "The Train Job" on Firefly was interesting but sort of hard to follow in some aspects. I feel that the whole job should have been more well-discussed and prepared for how big of a big job it was suppose to be. The engineering girl and the doctor didn't seem as confident as they should have been about getting the initial first step, of getting him on to the train, done. Secondly they ended up getting caught anyways resulting in a unnecessary rough fight. Third, they ended up taking the wrong cargo, or it was the right thing they just felt bad so gave it back, ultimately going trough the whole process for nothing. After this they were stuck in the town and had no idea what to do, mean while part of their own crew wanted to leave them there. Luckily some of the loyal crew members were there to take charge and stay to organize a plan of how to get the captain and the other girl back on their aircraft thing. When finally all back and ready to go they had to revise a new plan to return the cargo so that the suffering citizens could get their medicine, but while in the process their enemies arrived and fought them. The enemies injured some of the crew and put some in severe danger before the previous bad guy of the crew came to the rescue to save them. Once that was over with, they went to return the cargo but yet again got into some more trouble with the citizens of the town that they previous lied too. It was all just a huge mess. I did somewhat enjoy the episode though because you weren't really expecting what was going to happen next and it was quite interesting.

Hi classmates! I'm Allison Johnson! I am a freshman planning to major in Business Finance and minor in Chemistry or Biochemistry. I would also like to participate in undergraduate research. I want to attend medical school post graduation and hopefully someday become a surgeon and drive a black Escalade Ext. I live in Stradley Hall on the eighth floor on South campus and love it. I also love my two great roommates, Megan and Emilie! Megan and I already leased a house for next year with three of our other friends. I'm really excited. I really enjoy going to Ohio State. I'm from Genoa, Ohio which is right outside Toledo. I have a sister, Rachel, who is a senior in high school and twin brothers, John and Jake, who are sophomores in high school. I also have a black lab named Brutus, I love him to death! I played softball all my life for recreational teams, travel teams, and my varsity high school team for three years. I also umpire softball games as a summer job. I love football too. My favorite team is the Pittsburgh Steelers, and I of course love college football too. Go Bucks! I like rap music, Drake and all of Young Money is my favorite. I have democratic political views. I would shop all day if I could. My favorite place to go on the weekends is AEPi, the Jewish frat house. I love to have a good time but I'm also serious about my school work.
